Malachi David Gilley

Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and his name shall be Malachi - messenger of God!

My son has a truly powerful name. I am struck by the fact that it is a tall order to live up to. And I am also struck by the irony >>> such a powerful name given to such a frail, tiny child.

I am already praying that my boy will aspire to live up to the loftiness of his name. I am praying that he will willingly desire to be a mighty messenger of God most high.

He was given this name because of the work that the LORD was doing in the heart of his mother way before he was born. She was not ready for this, it did not fit in the plan. I am confident that this child has been brought into her life by the hand of God Himself as he has already been used over and over again to teach her to trust in the God of her salvation. So you see, my son is already living up to his name.

My little boy, will be a servant of God whether he means to be or not, for indeed all things are His servants. But my prayer now and for the rest of his life will be "O God, may my boy find it to be his joy to be your messenger."
