I praise my Savior because He lives!
And that to me His life He gives!
I’m thankful the end was not the cross
For then all hope would be utterly lost
Then in vain would our Lord have been crucified
And worthless would be all that happened when He died.
The battle with Christ death would then win
And we would forever be dead in our sin.
Though on the cross full atonement was made
And the wages of sin were completely paid,
Yet our defeated Christ would have no power to forgive
And we would be left with no reason to live.
But this is not the end, may God be praised!
Our conquering Lord from the dead was raised!
In crushing death He rose victorious
Our living Savior in power all glorious.
All fear of death is now abolished
All power of sin is completely demolished
Our victory in Christ is now secured
Eternal salvation is now assured
Now hope and joy and life He gives!
May the Savior be praised because He lives!
